Before the interview : Learn everything you can about the job and how your previous experience and training qualify you for the job.

Before the interview : Bring with you id, driving license, social security card, union card, military records etc...

In the interview: Dress for the interview as you would for the job. Do not over dress or look to informal.

In the interview: Always got to the interview alone. Arrange for babysitters, transportation, and other pitfalls ahead of time so that you can be on time and relaxed in the interview.

In the interview: Find common ground with the employer. Pictures, books, plants etc... in the employers’ office can be conversation.

In the interview: Answer questions in a clear positive manner. Show how your experience and training will make you productive in the shortest time with minimal supervision.

Try to avoid asking questions about salary or benefits during the initial interview. You will be able to ascertain that information later in the process if you get through the first interview.

Ask appropriate questions about the position that is available and the company or business itself. (However, be careful not to ask basic questions that can be answered with a minimal amount of research about the position or the company.

Before the interview: Practice an interview with a friend or relative.

Closing the interview: If the employer asks you to call or return for another interview, make a written note of the time, date and place.

Answer the questions on salary requirements with responses such as Im interested in the job as a career opportunity so I am negotiable on the starting salary. Negotiate but do NOT sell yourself short.

Closing the interview: Thanks the employer for the interview and reaffirm your interest and qualifications for the job.

In the interview: Let the employer lead into conversations about benefits. Your focus on these items can be a turn off. But do not be afraid to ask questions about things you really need to know.
